Spoke with the fire inspector regarding duct detector indicators with strobes on them. I let the inspector know that as long as there were not more than two in any field of view, and as long as there are not fire alarm notification devices in the building, then they would be allowed. However, these indicator strobes (non-fire) are not allowed in any building that has notification devices. They are not allowed if there are more than two in any field of view unless a flash rate is submitted to the fire alarm plans examiner to verify the flash rate complies with ADA and NFPA 72 requirements.
