(IDAHO PUBLIC AQUARIUM - TENANT COMPLETION) The fire sprinkler system is used for building area increase and for fire area. To complete areas with in an existing 9,264 square foot tenant space that is being used as a public aquarium. The first permit for the Idaho Public Aquarium was BLD11-01835. The use of this tenant space is for exhibit tours. A total of about 4,481 square feet of floor area is available for this use. The occupant load of this floor area is 252. The B Occupant load is 2 and the S-1 Occupant load is 4. Work includes site built aquariums, interior nonbearing walls, and finishes. In addition, a new exterior exit door in a concrete tilt-up panel, a new exterior landing at the door, and a new wood ramp will be constructed. A new steel header and steel jambs with Titen anchors and welding will be provided at the new exterior doorway. A 1,161 square foot area intended for a future deep aquarium is not approved for occupancy and is required to be barricaded to discourage occupancy. Site built aquariums are required to comply with the Structural Engineer’s design. Structural calculations were provided for aquariums having a water depth of 36 inches and for aquariums having a water depth of 60 inches. The analysis includes the design of the structural support for glass observation panels in the aquarium walls. Glass observation panels are required to be designed to resist the water pressure in accordance with nationally recognized standards. A copy of the structural design for the glass is required to be provided to the Structural Inspector. Aquarium walls will be constructed of solid grouted masonry with #4 rebar 8 inches on center each way. Vertical rebar will be anchored at least 4 inches into the existing concrete floor with epoxy. Joints and slab cracks running parallel to the aquarium walls are not allowed be located closer than 24 inches or 28 inches to the aquarium walls, depending on the depth of the water. Special inspection is required for epoxy anchors, Titen anchors, welding, and masonry. Precautions shall be taken to prevent children from falling into the aquariums. If guards are not provided, sufficient adult supervision is required at all times when children are present. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW**

Provide single action hardware on the pump room doors and provide annual inspections for all of the fire extinguishers. Front door meets requirements for locking hardware though panic is shown. The rear combustible ramp is under 4' in width so it meets the non-sprinkler exception. Exit signs and emergency lights functioned correctly.

Also asked him to call Walt Baumgartner with the Sewer Enviromental Department. I sent him a ESC Plan Waiver Request template and let him know the ESC department is requiring a ESC permit for identified work going on at the site.
