Inspector called regarding smoke detector placement in a new closet. I researched the original fire alarm plans for this area (FIR01-00354) and per the drawings on record, there is a note from Sam Rogers regarding this issue. Per the note; the design was for partial smoke detection for HVAC shutdown but duct detectors were added later in the design process. They decided to leave the non-required smoke detectors in place. I let the inspector know that due to this note, a smoke detector is not required to be installed in the new closet.
