Warren, the electrician, contacted me wanting to know if exit discharge lighting is required. I found that per the building inspectors review notes the exit discharge lights are required.

The project related fire alarm permit needs finaled. It appears sprinkler protection is needed under the new overhead door at the Smoker. All of the exit signs are non functional. One exit sign needs to be added at the main exit/arch and another at the exit door at the Bar. Repair the non-functional emergency lights. Raise the K class extinguisher in the kitchen to be off the floor. Remove the manaual dead bolt at the freezer door. Provide corrected occupant load sign and contrasting colors for the address numbers.

Spoke with Rick Patterson (GC) regarding a request for TCO. The owner is requesting that staff be allowed into the restaurant for training while remaining Fire Alarm work is completed under FIR12-00645. I informed Rick that because a portion of the fire alarm work pertains to non-required notification appliances, we can consider the TCO request after the building fire and life safety inspection (BLD12-01915) and fire sprinkler system inspection (FIR12-00556) are finaled and there are no subsequent fire suppression permits needed for the existing commercial cooking hood suppression system. The building fire alarm system that is required, (ie; fire sprinkler system and hood suppression system monitoring) is required to be fully operational for TCO approval.
