(OWYHEE PLACE COMMERCIAL KITCHEN UPGRADE - FOR OFF-SITE CATERING AND FOR FUTURE ON-SITE DINING - TAPIAS @ OWYHEE) The fire sprinkler system is used for area, height, and story increase. To remodel and alter the size of the existing commercial kitchen located on the 1st story of the historic portion of the Owyhee Place Building. After the remodel, the kitchen will have a floor area of about 1,831 square feet. The kitchen will be used for off-site catering and for future on-site dining. Separate permits are required to establish occupancy for the future on-site dining areas. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, a 1-hr shaft for new HVAC ducts, kitchen equipment, and interior finishes. Alterations to the historic portions of this building are not regulated by the energy code. Two existing Type I exhaust systems (grease hoods and grease ducts) and some other existing kitchen equipment will be maintained. Existing 1-hr shafts for the existing grease ducts shall be maintained. A new roof top HVAC unit will be provided to serve the bakery in conjunction with this permit. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The structural design for the support of the new 800 pound roof top HVAC unit and the structural design for the alterations to the floor and roof to accommodate the new ducts are deferred submittal items. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13, the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72, and the fire suppression systems for the Type I exhaust hoods are required to comply with applicable standards as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW**
