(ST. MARK’S PRESCHOOL – SOUTHWEST CORNER OF BUILDING) The fire sprinkler system is used for building area increase. To convert two Church classrooms having a total floor area of about 853 square feet (603 square feet and 250 square feet) to a full-time functioning daycare/preschool within an existing Church. Children less than 2.5 years of age are not allowed to be cared for within the daycare/preschool area since neither of the rooms has a door that opens directly to the outside. Smoke detectors are required in rooms used for sleeping. A carbon monoxide detector is required within each childcare room. The number of children is limited by CUP14-00022 to 24 maximum. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, 2 egress doors with panic hardware, and exit signs. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such system. **CJW**

Spoke with Elaina Becker with Saint Marks pre-school. Informed Elaina that a separate fire sprinkler permit and fire alarm permit will be required for the necessary modifications to the building fire protection systems. Once those permit applications have been submitted to the City for review and approval, an evaluation for temporary occupancy can take place.

Finish construction so the door hardware and new exit signs can be verified, provide permit/work to modify the existing fire alarm system, install smoke alarms as discussed (can be stand alone), provide emergency lighting for the exit path and exit discharge, sprinkler heads in daycare areas need to be quick responce/residential type and provide flash lights for emergency lighting within the day care as discussed.
