Description	(VALLEY VIEW SENIOR LIVING – KITCHEN TYPE I HOOD AND DUCT) The fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy and for building area increase. To install a Type I grease hood and duct system within a new 169 square foot kitchen to serve an I-2 Occupancy Skilled Nursing Facility. Work is to include cutting holes in a 1-hr fire-resistance-rated floor-ceiling assembly, cutting holes in a 1-hr fire-resistance-rated roof-ceiling assembly, and structurally reinforcing the floor and roof. The grease duct and the make-up air duct are each required to be within a separate 1-hr shaft, minimum. Special Inspection required for epoxy anchors. Verification of the capacity of the floor and roof to support the new equipment is a deferred submittal item. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. CJW
