Description
(BOI – BOISE CITY AIR TERMINAL – SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEM) The building fire sprinkler system is used for fire area. To install solar racks on the roof of the Boise City Air Terminal Building to support glazed, flat plat solar thermal collector panels tilted at a 35 degree angle for a pressurized, closed-loop, solar water heating system with glycol freeze protection. The solar water heating system will serve the building’s domestic hot water system. Solar thermal collector panels will be installed in 3 sets of 4 panels each. Each panel is 9.75 feet by 4 feet and weighs about 140 pounds. Work is to include installing vertical support columns and panel support rails. Work within Mechanical Room #326 on the 3rd story includes a concrete housekeeping pad for new equipment, two new 100 gallon high efficiency gas water heaters (about 835 pounds water weight each), two 320 gallon solar storage tanks (about 2,671 pounds water weight each), heat exchangers, circulator pumps, control valves, pipes, etc. Special Inspection is required for welding and to verify the screw installation into the metal roof deck. The roof covering is required to be adequately patched in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions to adequately protect the building and to restore the function of the roof covering. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural calculations, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. This is a scope of work permit only and does not establish a Certificate of Occupancy for any portion of this building. This building already has a Certificate of Occupancy. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
