(MERCANTILE BUILDING INTERMEDIATE FLOOR LEVEL) (DRH16-00401) (4-18-18 PLAN MODIFICATION TO CHANGE THE LOCATION OF THE INTERMEDIATE FLOOR LEVEL STAIRWAY AND TO INSTALL A PARTIAL HEIGHT INTERIOR STOREFRONT WINDOW SYSTEM. WORK IS TO INCLUDE CONTINUOUS TUBE STEEL COLUMNS AND TUBE STEEL BEAMS TO SUPPORT THE NEW INTERIOR STOREFRONT SYSTEM. SPECIAL INSPECTION IS REQUIRED FOR WELDING AND FOR ANCHORS POST-INSTALLED IN HARDENED CONCRETE AND MASONRY. THE SPECIFIED DOOR HARDWARE IS NOT NECESSARILY APPROVED. THE CODE COMPLIANCE OF DOOR HARDWARE WILL BE EVALUATED UNDER THE PERMIT FOR THE NEW TENANT.) (6-1-17 PLAN MODIFICATION TO CONSTRUCT AN INTERIOR STAIRWAY FROM THE NEW MEZZANINE FLOOR LEVEL TO THE BASEMENT FLOOR LEVEL BELOW, DELETE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE NORTH WINDOW FROM THE SCOPE OF WORK, AND TO REMOVE A WALL BETWEEN THIS TENANT SPACE AND THE COMMON AREA.) The fire sprinkler system is used to substitute for 1-hr fire-resistance-rated construction and for occupancy. Two large exterior fixed widows each having an area of about 164 square feet will be removed from the exterior wall at 8th Street. One window will be replaced with a new fixed window. The sill of the other window opening will be cut down several inches below grade to accommodate a new openable exterior 4 panel multi-bi-fold window wall in the existing opening. A new concrete threshold with an embedded track will be installed below the operable window wall. The structural header and jambs of the existing exterior openings will not be altered. New horizontal steel beams will be installed between the top segment and bottom segment of the new window systems. To construct a 113 square foot intermediate floor with the floor surface at the same elevation as the exterior sidewalk surface and about 5.25 feet above the basement floor. The floor construction includes wood beams, wood columns, wood joists, and wood floor sheathing. An interior nonbearing wall will be installed below the floor beam. In addition, a guard, a new full height interior nonbearing wall, and new doors will be installed. Special Inspection is required for anchors post-installed in hardened concrete and for welding. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. This permit does not establish a Certificate of Occupancy for any tenant. Occupancy will be established under a separate tenant improvement permit. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
