(BOISE ART GLASS / FIRE FUSION – STAIRWAY REMOVAL AND STORAGE ROOM) The fire sprinkler system is used for story increase. To remove a 2nd story stairway, construct a wall infill on the 2nd story, create a storage area on the 1st story for hazardous materials with a new exterior door to the alley, and to make the new door at the alley available to serve only the new storage area. The work is within an existing 8,613 square foot tenant space (5,806 square foot 1st story, a 181 square foot mezzanine, and a 2,626 square foot 2nd story). Some work is being done to resolve corrections required by the Boise City Fire Department regarding hazardous materials. The storage area is not a 1-hr control area so it is not required to be enclosed by interior walls and doors having a fire-resistance-rating. The quantities of hazardous materials within this building are not allowed to exceed the exempt quantities per control area as allowed by the 2012 IFC. An occupant load sign is required to be posted limiting the maximum occupant load of the North 2nd story egress area to 29. Emergency lights and an exit sign are required to serve that area as part of an approved code alternate. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
