(ST. LUKE’S – PSYCHIATRIC EXAM / SAFE HOLD ROOM – EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT – 1ST STORY) The fire sprinkler system is used for high rise and for occupancy. To remodel an existing 125 square foot exam room located on the 1st story within the Emergency Department so it can be used as a psychiatric exam / safe hold room. The existing suspended acoustical ceiling and finishes within the room will be removed. Tube steel columns with steel base plates and steel top plates will be provided to function as jamb supports for a 10 foot wide vertical coiling door that will isolate and secure the head wall within the exam room. Other work includes vinyl flooring, curtain and curtain track, a new door leaf with double-acting hinges and security glazing, gypsum board wall furring, gypsum board ceiling soffits, suspended gypsum board ceiling, gypsum board header at the vertical coiling door, ceiling access panels, millwork, sink, and accessories. Strangulation hazards within the exam room will be eliminated. Special inspection is required for welding and for anchors post-installed in hardened concrete. The 2-hr fire-resistance-rating of the existing floors is required to be maintained. The existing 2-hr stairway enclosure and the existing patient care suite smoke partition are required to be maintained. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
