TO INFILL ONE EXISTING EXTERIOR WINDOW OPENING IN THE EAST EXTERIOR WALL, TO REMOVE EXISTING WOOD FRAMED AWNINGS AT THE EAST AND NORTH EXTERIOR WALLS, TO ADD NEW UPPER AWNINGS AT THE EAST AND NORTH EXTERIOR WALLS, TO INSTALL A NEW STEEL CHANNEL FRAME AWNING ABOVE THE MAIN ENTRY AT THE EAST EXTERIOR WALL, AND TO ADD COMPOSITE EXTERIOR WALL PANELS BELOW THE NEW AWNINGS. STRUCTURAL STEEL HEADERS AND JAMBS SHALL BE PROVIDED AT THE NEW OPENINGS IN THE EXTERIOR MASONRY WALLS AS ORIGINALLY APPROVED. TUBE STEEL COLUMNS ARE REQUIRED TO BE INSTALLED ON EACH SIDE OR NEW WINDOW OPENINGS TO RESIST OUT-OF-PLAIN LATERAL LOADS. SPECIAL INSPECTION IS REQUIRED FOR WELDING AND FOR ANCHORS POST-INSTALLED IN MASONRY.) Only the unfinished basement of this building has a fire sprinkler system because it is a windowless story. To remodel the 3,455 square foot 1st story of an existing building to be used as a dental office where no one will be incapable of self-preservation. This building has a 3,495 square foot unfinished basement that is used for mechanical equipment with two interior egress stairways. The basement is not otherwise approved for occupancy. Demolition work includes removing existing floor coverings, interior nonbearing walls, interior doors, millwork, and sections of the exterior masonry wall for new window openings. Work is to include three new 4 foot wide window openings in existing exterior masonry walls with steel headers and steel jambs, three exterior windows in those openings (one in West exterior wall located 5 feet from the West property line), interior nonbearing walls, millwork, and finishes. Two existing toilet rooms will be upgraded to be accessible to the disable. A route accessible to the disabled will be provided from the public way and from the accessible parking space to the building’s public entrance. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The basement fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the smoke detection system for HVAC unit shutdown is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
