Plan need to be reviewed by P&Z because of exterior alterations & additions. 11/07/96 - Have reviewed occupant load questions with the architect and Old Chicago field project manager. Will be receiving new floor plan layout proposals per Vince Yannett. Received letter from CSDI Construction, Inc., Jeff Langdon stating that CSDI Const will provide mechanical engeineered design for the additional ducting and one hour shaft requirements after they have opened up the ceiling for preparation to install the new Type I Hood for the pizza oven, for review and approval, prior to starting any work. I accepted the letter as a condition of the permit. drs I am rerouting the plans to the Mechanical Div. for review - failed mech. review previously.

Phone discussion with Mr Sanders, architect on Old Chicago restaurant at BTS, to review the occupanct load question within the lounge area and the need for a second complying exit serving this area. Mr. Sanders has figured a different occupant load and area than I have. He will refigure his calculations and fax me a copy of some alternate seating arrangement and an explanation of how he figured the occupant load. I also asked him to send me a legible copy of the engineering design specifications for the new entry vestibule with an architects or engineers Idaho license stamp on the calculations, that I can use to verify the design information shown. I also reviewed withhim the difference between the structural floor joist as called out on the plan to be 8 inch deep, 20 gage as versus the submitted design manufactures specs that show 6 inch 20 or 18 gage as being all right. The difference is that the 8 inch, 20 gage joist requires web stiffeners per the manufacture do to web thickness to height ratio. A heavier gage 8" joist is needed, or a web stiffener detail or the approved 6" 20 or 18 gage. I also asked him to provide a letter showing what components of the proposed special inspection bid appraisal copy,sent to me, from Materials Testing Inc. is required by the engineer and that the proposal was accepted.

Had Jeff Langdon, CSDI Construction project manager for the Old Chicago tenant improvment at Boise Towne Square. He was accompanied by Vince Yannett, project manager for Rock Bottom Restaurants, Inc. owner of Old Chicago. We reviewed outstanding questions concerning the proposed Old Chicago Restaurant project. (1)The lack of appropriate exits from the lounge area. Suggestions: A tunnelled corridor exit system in front of the kitchen area to the exterior West wall from the lounge; A new exit corridor from the lounge to a exit corridor through other tenant spaces. To reduce the area of the lounge by alternate lower use occupancies such that an assembly occupancy would not be greated. Provide a letter from comany officials and signed by them that they would post the area with a sign limiting the occupant load to 49 or less and they would accept responsibility for policing the area and enforcing the occupant load - I would present this request to my superviser for consideration/approval. Mr. Yannett said he would get with the restaurant officials to consider the options and may even suggest a floor layout redesign, opening up the lounge area to interconnected with the dining room #1 area and exits. Mr. Yannett called back to say that he had talked to the restaurant layout person for Old Chicago and she would prepare some preliminary drawings showing the proposed changes for approval prior to having the architect redesign.

We reviewed each comment and I directed him to the code section in question and he said he would provide me with the neede information details, engineering and plan submittals. I ask him to check the bi-fold doors that open into the rear exit way from Dining Areas #1 & #2 so that the doors do not obstruct exiting. He said he would check out and address change on resubmittals if change is needed.
