To remodel a 2,637 sq.ft. one story retail building with 2,278 sq.ft. basement to bring into code compliance per approved plans on file. This work is done as a result of the miscellaneous permit (MIS96-1151) previously issued. Work to include the construction of a new stair from the basement located in the northwest corner of the basement, installing an additional layer of 5/8" Type X gypsum wallboard on the entire ceiling of the basement and installation of new self-closing, tight-fitting doors of solid wood 1 3/4" thick and wall enclosures of one hour fire resistiveness in the basement around each set of stairs, construction of new interior partition walls, revision of the restroom upstairs to CABO/ANSI standards and refinishing the display area on the first floor per approved plans and attachments. A personal visit to the site after work on 3/3/97 revealed the existing store front is 8 to 10 feet further out than the 1964 building plans showed and that this was evidently done without a permit as the wall appears to be resting on a slab with no footing underneath. The interior partition walls existing were mostly very resently built as evidence of newly finished sheetrock with no paint and newly painted (one-coat) walls with not baseboard were present. Some walls were present that are not shown on the submitted plans and some walls were not present that are shown on the presented plans. 3/4/97- Prepared plan check report and faxed to Architect for clearification of 7 items. Will hold plans until receipt and review before forwarding to Fire Department as additional corrections may be required, depending on the response.
