This matter had been discussed before with the architect, Larry Hoff; Eddie Valenzuela, part owner; and Don Hiatt. Mr. Hoff was to have met with me on 06/24/97 with his mechanical contractor at 2p.m. but did not show up. 07/07/97- Received response from architect to plan review comments. Began phone conversations with Don Haitt, Bargreen/Ellingson food service supply & design, concerning the use of a ductless hood system. The Vent Master system proposed is not listed by ICBO. We found a Giles system which is listed and Mr. Hiatt went to see if this system would work. Over the next several weeks phone conversations and a visit by Jeff Schulz for VentMaster resulted in submittals of proprietory information for VentMaster and phone conversations with UL, review of NFPA 96, a copy of the UL File report and an on site visit & report from Jeff Schultz concerning requirements needing to be met by the restaurant personel if a VentMaster system was to be used, I reviewed all materials with Bob Garrison, Chief Plans Examiner Manager & Dave Miller, Fire Dept. Battalion Chief & Plan Reviewer and it was agreed that we would accept the product if installed per listing, Jeff Schulz' report and NFPA 96. A letter of conditional acceptance was sent to Don Hiatt, with copies to Bob Garrison, Dave Miller & Floyd Varley, Fire dept. field inspector. Copy on plans & in file.
