I advised Tom Neiwirth ( architect ) to access the entire building for an accessible route in compliance with UBC appendix ch. 11. I sent Tom a fax and letter with the re-review findings.

Meet w/ Harold Drake. He has agreed to an upgrade of the existing facilities to comply with the 1970 UBC 1. gasketting the 20 minute doors and 2. installing fire dampers in the ceiling openings in the corridoor. The work is to be completed within two years. He was told to resubmit plans showing the addition being separated from the existing dining room by 1-hour corridor walls and openings.

meet with owner Harold Drake for the second time with Dan Stuart on 2-3-98. Marlene Southard agreed to allow the existing dining room to remain as approved on the original 1972 permit # 6808 as long as the addition is separated from the cooridor/dining room as per an approved 1-hour corridor wall. I researched and found the 1970 code to have been adopted at that time. Sent the owner a copy of my findings today and requested an upgrade agreement schedule for the corridor upgrade for fire dampers and gaskets on the doors etc. With such the addition could be permited. The allowable area is meet with three yards ( 37' min.) sprinklers, existing area separation walls and type V-1hour.
