To finish a 4 story rehabilitation hospital building per approved plans on file. Work to include all interior construction to create patient rooms and treatment areas with support office structure in compliance with construction requirements for an "I" occupancy, Type I FR structure per adopted 1997 Uniform Codes and applicable city, county and state laws & ordinances. Portions of this building have been divided into "Suites" as allowed by Section 1007.5.9 to reduce requirements for rated exit corridors. All 'Suites' are separated from other areas of the floors by fully complying 1-hour occupancy separation walls. NOTE: This building is have a fire-extinguishing system in compliance with Section 904 UBC & Article 10 UFC. Shell and core constructed under BLD97-1409. with mike with jordan wilcomb and ken with ymc the mech contractor, on the requirements for the domestic close dryer duct/vent penetrations of the 2-hour rated shaft. some protective work was done without approvals or resubmittals to the building dept. We discussed the required submittals for these changes. Contractors are submit assemblies for the penetrations and the type of ducting that is allowed for a domestic dryer with a booster fan. also the proper terminatio of the required rated construction of the shaft protection as the duct cannot have a fire/smoke damper.

with arch steve turney on the submittals from the mech eng stating that with the eng seal that all would be well. I asked before I approved the submittal that the calculations done to arrive at the conclusion that the booster fan for the oversized over length to this date un approved spiral ducting that is proposed would be acceptable per the uniform mechanical code 1997. Also discussion on the rejection of the submittal for u.l. assembly for the penetration of this same duct through an required 2-hour shaft. it is ul/cul system no. wl7040. As this system utilizes #8x 3/4 sheet metal screws, and the umc states in 504.3.2 that " ducts for exausting clothes dryers shall not be connected or installed with sheet metal screws or fasteners which will obstruct the flow. Mr Turney suggested that rivits would be used. This is not acceptable without being part of the tested assy.

He is to do research on the availability of an approved assembly for duct through a 2-hour rated shaft wall assy. Agreed that the new 3-m wrap material built shaft can terminate at the location just above the wall of the dryer/washer room and just above the booster fan as to not require demolition of the existing wall.
