To remodel the existing 2,513 sq.ft. auditorium per approved plans on file. Work to include removal of existing interior rooms & finishes per demo permit allready issued, BLD99-1414. To furr out East and West walls of auditorium & storage / counter area of South wall to create an assembly seating area of 2,093 square feet or less with a maximum occupant load of "299" to maintain the "A-3" assembly occupancy classification. Framing to be sheetrocked prior to finish applications. To install new suspended ceiling system, electrical, mechanical and fire sprinkler system upgrades to meet current codes. Received requested floor plan copy designating the clear room size dimensions to be used by the contractor and verified by the structural inspector to keep auditorium with in allowable area for an A-3 occupancy. Attached copy to plans.

Call from Scott Henson to question plan review. I expalined to him and suggested he go to HP and suggest the area be reduced to allow continuing occupancy group of A-3 as currently exists and remove a mountain of trouble to upgrade an existing assembly area which is located centrally and will require major modifications to the exit system to go forward as proposed.

Met with Scott Henson to review the requirements noted on plan review comments & how to address them if the area is reduced to maintain the A-3 occupancy. Most of the requirements will go away if the occupancy group is not changed. Scott to resubmit plans showing method of area reduction and maximum allowable area. All one-hour construction requirements will then go away.

Plans incomplete for proposed occupancy group change. Exit system upgrade specified for this type of assembly occupancy was not addressed on submitted plans. Copy of prliminary review sent to architect with suggestion that area of assembly be reduced by 167 s.f. to 2,093 s.f. or less w/ 299 occ. load to maintain the A3 occupancy and avoid required upgrades. Plans submitted indicate a maximum desired minimum seating of 184 which can easily be achieved by reducing the area
