AFTER MEETING WITH GREGG OSTROW TO REVIEW HOSPITAL PLANS FOR THE AREA UNDER THIS PERMIT, NEW PLANS WERE SUBMITTED TO SHOW SCOPE OF WORK BASED ON OCCUPANCY CHANGE, LOCATION OF OCCUPANCY SEPARATION WALL, DOOR ACCESS & FIRE RATING UPGRADES AND NEW UNISEX RESTROOMS.
Meeting  9/28/1999 PEND
MET WITH GREGG OSTROW TO REVIEW PROPOSED PLAN SUBMITTALS FOR CONVERTION OF A PORTION OF THE EXISTING R-1 UNITS IN WEST WING TO "B" PROFESSION OFFICE UNITS FOR ECHO REMODEL. THE PLAN REVIEW HAD BEEN PACED ON HOLD PER GREGGS REQUEST AFTER I CALLED HIM ON THE 9 OF SEPTEMBER TO DISCUSS QUESTION THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED BEFORE THE REVIEW BE COMPLETED SO THE HOSPITAL WOULD UNDERSTAND THE TYPE OF CHANGES WOULD BE REQUIRED IF THE WEST WING WAS TO BE RECLASSIFIED AT A LATER DATE ASAN "I1.1" OCCUPANCY AGAIN. THE USING OF THE HALLWAY AS PART OF THE OCCUPANCY SEPARATION WALL BETWEEN THE R-1 & B OCCUPANCY AREAS WOULD ALSO CAUSE THAT ALL THE EXISTING DOORS BE UPGRADED TO 60 MINUTE; THE DUCTS AT BOTH SIDE PENETRATING THE WALL WOULD REQUIRE SMOKE FIRE/DAMPERS AND ACTUATORS AND DOOR ACCESSIBILITY UPGRADE. A RELOCATION OF THE 1-HOUR OCCUPANCY SEPARATION COULD REQUIRE A LOT LESS EXPENSE. WAITING TO HEAR FROM GREGG OSTROW BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Plan resubmittals requested  9/9/1999 HOLD
REQUESTED NEW PLANS TO REFLECT HOSPITALS DETERMINATION ON HOW TO PROCEED CONCERNING OCCUPANCY USE CHANGE AND LOCATION OF 1-HOUR OCCUPANCY SEPARATION WALL.
Telephone call  9/9/1999 HOLD
Called Gregg Ostow to discuss the challenges presented by converting this proposed area to a "B" occupancy. Previous modifications to the occupancy were done under the 1991 UBC and we did not enforce accessibility issues. This was up to the architect, owner and the Federal Government. Today we have the UCBC & Chapter 11 & Appendix Chapter 11 of the UBC in conjunction with CABO/ANSI A117.1-92 for accessibility. This would require modifications not indicated on the submitted plans and more extensive work. This could also impact future uses in this area since thie remodels are thought of a temporary occupancies by SLRMC as they remodel other areas. Gregg is going to take comments we have discussed and review with Hospital Officials to determine if they want to proceed with this project. We agreed to put project on hold until I here back from Gregg.
Routing - PLAN CHECK8/19/1999 9/9/1999 HOLD
TALKED WITH GREGG OSTROW ON PHONE TO REVIEW CHANGES THAT WOULD BE REQUIRED FOR OCCUPANCY CHANGE TO PROPOSED "B" OCCUPANCY AS WELL AS THE GREATER CHANGES THAT WOULD BE INVOLVED IF THE AREA WAS DESIRED TO BE USED AGAIN AS AN I1.1 OCCUPANCY. ALL GRADNDFATHER RIGHTS WILL BE LOST AND THE FACILITY WOULD BE TREATED AS IF NEW. THERE IS ALSO A QUESTION ON THE LOCATION OF THE PROPOSED OCCUPANCY SEPARATION WALL USING THE EXISTING CORRIDOR WALLS AS THE 1-HOUR WALL PORTION. THIS ROUTE WILL REQUIRE THE UPGRADE OF ALL DOORS TO BE 1-HOUR, "S" LABELED ASSEMBLIES AND ALL DUCT PENETRATIONS WOULD REQUIRE SMOKE/FIRE DAMPERS WITH ACTUATORS AT ALL PENETRATIONS OF OCCUPANCY SEPARATION WALL - ACROSS FROM EACH OTHER AT BOTH SIDES OF CORRIDOR. PLANS ARE BEING PUT ON HOLD PER GREGG OSTROW, SLRMC PROJECT ARCHITECT, WHILE HE REVIEWS OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION CHANGE PROPOSAL AND EFFECTS AND THE DESIRED LOCATION OF THE OCCUPANCY SEPARATION WALL. FAXED LETTER TO REVIEW THESE ITEMS TO GREGG OSTROW AS FOLLOW UP UNDER PC#99-647.LTR
