(ST LUKES-CENTRAL WING BASEMENT / SUB-BSMNT. MECH.. RM)* To modify fire sprinkler in a portion of the basement and sub-basement Central Wing mechanical room for upgrade of mechanical equipment for service West Wing of SLRMC. Work is related to removal of structural portions of interior walls & suspended floors; installation of new support footings, columns, pilasters, noncombustible floor & roof system. Use of the areas have been reviewed as accessory, non-habitable, mechanical & electrical equipment service rooms. All possible work shall be done in advance of shutting off the water so that final connections can be made quickly and protection restored promptly. The chief (Fire Department) shall be notified when any required fire-protection system is out of service for over an 8 hour period and upon restoration of service. (UFC 1001.5.3). Certification the existing fire sprinkler system will be required with current inspection requirements. (IDAPA 18.01.49.020) Note: Any installation deviating from the submitted plans, of a degree determined at the Field Fire/Life Safety Inspectors discretion, shall require "As-Built" sprinkler shop drawings and/or hydraulic calculations to be submitted for final acceptance. All field changes shall be shown on the as-built drawings. (UFC 1001.3, 1007.3.4.3) This building is fully sprinkled as condition of hospital occupancy per chapter 9 UBC.
