Description
(STEIN DISTRIBUTING CO., INC.) To install wet pipe fire sprinkler protection into the remodeled 1,768-ft/2 and expanded 1,768-ft/2 two-story office areas, located within an existing warehouse, for a total of 3536-ft/2. Work is related to include new walls around new the portion and upgrading walls and openings around existing office area to separate the office area from the warehouse with two-hour fire barrier walls. Includes a new vertical exit enclosure from second floor area, the removal and rebuilding of stairs on lower level, which access the warehouse area. This building is partially sprinklered for High Piled Storage use with a letter on file, to fully sprinkler the building by 2006. All fire sprinklers and related appurtenance within this permit work scope shall meet current NFPA 13-1999 standards, comply with the IFC-2000 and attached review comment and conditions list, as regulated by the Fire Chief. These notes, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, in order to provide witness verification of compliance in meeting minimum code standards. This permit is attached to building permit: BLD03-00657.

A. Second floor cavity protection is not considered a "small room" and will not be allowed to be spaced as such. Must meet 5-6.2.2.

B. Light Hazard protection may be designed for up to 225-ft/2 spacing (with exceptions) and this design submitted (was verified for a maximum spacing of 186-ft/2 for densities of .10. Limits for small room rule allow spacing off one wall up to 9'-0", but maximum allowable area of protection cannot exceed the design proven which is: 186-ft/2. Office #205 even exceed maximum allowed if proven at 225-ft/2?

C. Trapeze hangers appear to be used for the roof main piping? Plans provide not location of roof truss supports. Include the location of truss support, span and provide the pipe size and type installing with the trapeze hangers. Where a pipe is suspended from a pipe trapeze of a diameter less than the diameter of the pipe being supported, ring, strap, or clevis hangers of the size corresponding to the suspended pipe shall be used on both ends. Include ring sizes on the trapeze. (6-1.1.3)

D. Provide data submittals on the "Riser Check" installing.

E. Show and/or provide a forward flow backflow test connection in accordance with 5-15.4.6.1 for provisions of meeting NFPA 13:10-2.6. Calculations provided (faxed) do not verify flows through piping out of this structure.
