Description	(HASTINGS)(COUNTRY SQUARE SHOPPING CENTER) Modification of fire sprinkler protection for the remodel to an existing 22,835-ft/2 retail space in an existing building per plans on file. Remodel work involves a new coffee bar, new office, new break room, new storage/processing areas, and two new restrooms. Fire sprinkler work is related to interior demolition work, some new interior walls, some suspended ceiling work. Code upgrade agreement on file for this shopping center to be completed prior to issuing a permanent Certificate of Occupancy for this tenant. Sagging insulation obstructing some sprinkler heads and insulation backing flame spread rating above suspended ceiling to be addressed and corrected in this space and throughout the entire shopping center under this permit. A new Certificate of Occupancy is to be issued when all work is completed and approved. This building is fully fire sprinklered for area increase. The fire sprinkler system work shall comply with IFC 2000, attached review comment and conditions list, as regulated by the Fire Chief. These notes, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code. Telcon from Dennis Potter, Steed Const 8/7/03 with request for approval to proceed with TI work before permit is issued since they have begun on the sprinkler upgrade work per the application for this permit. I indicated I couldn't give that approval. Discussed with Jason Blais, who indicated that based on the commitment made in Pete Conlon's letter dated 8/1/03 to Tim Hogland, to complete all sprinkler upgrade work within all tenant spaces stipulated in the original sprinkler upgrade agreement, Tim has agreed to allow us to issue permits to Hastings, but will only allow a TOC to be issued to Hastings when their TI work is completed. This FIR permit is to be phased to include all sprinkler upgrade work for each tenant in the shopping center where sprinkler work is required to be done and is not to be finaled until all required work is satisfactorily completed. Hastings is not to receive a permanent CO until this permit has been finaled. It is understood the work is to be completed within the normal 90-day TOC period. No TI work is to be done without a BLD permit. Called Dennis 8/8/03, advised of these conditions and that I would be reviewing the BLD permit today and assuming no problems would probably be ready to be issued late Monday or Tues next week. Meantime, only work on the sprinkler system Phase One is approved to proceed under this FIR permit.
