Paul,

The previously approved alternative agent suppression systems designed and installed on specific tools utilizing TMA, pyphoric liquid may be installed on any tool utilizing phyporic liquid located in any H-5 occupancy on the Boise site. Of course, maximum allowable quantities for phyphoric liquid in the International Fire Code (IFC, 2000) are not to be exceeded.

I will be processing the current outstanding permit applications. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.

Mary

Mary,
1. Alox is not TMA, it is a process utilizing TMA.

2. Per our response below on project C7147, the request and ultimate
approval of the referenced alternate was to allow Micron to operate
under the chemical quantity limits as prescribed in the 2000 edition of
the International Fire Code (IFC), as opposed to the UFC quantities in
force at the time for Micron Buildings 24 D and C. At that time, and as
a part of the request for Alternate, we did demonstrate our method of
fire suppression for a pyrophoric liquid along with many other code
required protection systems to demonstrate to the city the safeties that
would be in place. These safety systems continue to be designed and
installed per the code and do not require any alternate or agreement
that would limit their application in any H-5 area. The IFC quantity
limits are now the adopted and prescribed code limits for the city of
Boise. As such, these apply without additional requirements for an
alternative proposal and would not be restricted to any particular H-5
occupancy.

I just spoke with David Miller regarding this issue. Some alternates
that Micron has in place are building or Project specific. The
alternate that you are referencing, however, is now defunct, and I am
copying Dave at his request to make sure that we are all of the same
understanding on this issue.
Please call with any additional questions.
Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

Two items,

1) Is the Alox actuallly TMA?
2) Per the agreement dated May 8, 2002, only buildings 24 and 24D have
been approved. This permit is in Fab 1X. Therefore, I have a call into
Dave Miller in regards to Fab 1X.

Thanks,
Mary

Call with Paul Marcolina regarding the "labeling" of the chemical. Paul stated there is a meeting today, so this FIR should fall into the same line as FIR04-00116, FIR04-00126 and be placed on hold.
