1. Provide existing riser details incorporating pertinent devices that are required and an integral part of a required system required to verify calculations and current code issues. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2, NFPA 13:4.3.1(30)
2. Provide a site plan that addresses the Fire Department Access, street the underground is tapped onto, any outside control locations, fire hydrant/s locations/distances, etc. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2 NFPA 13:4.3.1(28)
3. Provide the total area of protection this system you're tapping into is protecting. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2, NFPA 13:4.3.1(14)
4. Provide some basic history on the existing system attaching. This should include the system design and approximate year the system was installed. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2)
5. The Fire Sprinkler Cover Sheet provided indicates this (remote) area is obstructed? The additional clarification addresses 14" steel beams and (8 '2' - something) purlins? Provide clearer information addressing the actual "Obstructed Construction" as identified in NFPA 13-2002, page 200, A.3.7.1, of which lists 7 acceptable types. Plans shall include that obstruction information on the floor plan and section details which are legible. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2)
6. Building construction is somewhat addressed in your "Section Plan", (of which the floor plan section cut is miss addressing). The earthquake detail which is shown attached to a vertical wall needs more clarification. HDI or "concrete stud" cannot be used in brick, CMU and similar wall construction. This detail does not address through bolts with washers, etc. required for those types of walls. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2, NFPA 13:9.1.3.2)
7. Provide clarification of light fixtures and the possible obstruction created by them. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2, NFPA 13:9.1.3.2)
8. Provide submittal and or plan clarification of side beam bracket hanger attachment and how this item is attached to the side of a "Z" Purlin. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2, NFPA 13:9.1.3.2)
9. Provide detail of how this addition will tap into the existing system which is required and addressed in NFPA 13:4.3.1(21). (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2, NFPA 13:9.1.3.2)
10. This system area verified may have a large "cushion" but is not an accurate design since actual head spacing is not near the design spacing verifying. This means that friction loss in the calculations do not include the pipe lengths. If proving a maximum spacing, besides verifying area/density/pressure requirements, actual pipe dimensioning and fittings shall be included in the calculations for verification of friction loss for the area designing to, as addressed in NFPA 13: 8.5.2.1, 14.4.4.3.3, 14.4.4.5, and 14.1.3 (34). Provide corrected calculations which correlate. (BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC-2000:105.2.1, 105.4.2, 901.2)
