To provide multiple station smoke detectors in a residence per IFC and NFPA 72 and to extend the audible component of the existing building fire alarm system into the residence (4th and 5th floors). The required manual fire alarm system includes sprinkler monitoring, required automatic detection, HVAC shutdown, fire/smoke damper control, elevator recall/shutdown and notification throughout.

The associated building permit (BLD 03-02056) is to construct a new 4,338 sq.ft. two story condominium residential unit on the 4th and 5th floors. The fourth floor is approximately 2,388 sq.ft and the fifth floor is approximately 1,950 sq.ft. Work to include the installation of the HVAC, plumbing, electrical interior walls and cabinets. NOTE: The installation of a NFPA 13 fire sprinkler system is required for story increase and can not be used for any other purposes. All construction per the approved plans and attached comment list. Nick (Synergy) called to state that the architect would like to delete the non-required multi-station smoke detector at the front door. I stated to red-line their plans and I would leave a note in our system to advise RIck of the deletion. I am not requiring a plan modification resubmittal to the permit at this time. If there are changes in the field, Rick may request it at that time.

Architect at Erstad called to state the duct smoke detector for the make-up air unit is set up to alarm. At this time everytime there is wind, it goes into alarm. Request to change it to a supervisory signal. I explained that the code specifies supervisory, but if the responsible person wants it to alarm, the city has no preference. Therefore, they may change the programming to supervisory and notify Rick Jackson to verify the functionality.
