Description
Emerald Tech Center Building #9 (Shell Only)- To install the underground fire service supply and overhead fire sprinkler suppression system in a new 18,780-ft/2, one story, concrete tilt-up office and warehouse shell building. The 6" C-900 PVC underground service is connected near the property line to a 10" looped supply following W. Emerald and runs approximately 234-ft. south and then east into the building. Class 50 Ductile Iron will penetrate through the floor in Mechanical room #102 to the systems single riser assembly. The overhead system is incorporating E.C. heads for OH-2 occupancy, limiting this structure to where the quantity and combustibility of contents may be considered moderate to high with miscellaneous commodities classified as Class I through III, palletized, in bin boxes, shelf or open shelf racks which cannot exceed 12'-0". Commodities of Class IV in palletized, in bin boxes or shelf (no racks) cannot exceed 10'-0", unless system is redesigned with 500 gpm outside hose demand. Group "A" Plastics in open shelf racks, solid pile, palletized, bin boxes or shelf storage cannot exceed 5'-0" with exceptions. Miscellaneous tire storage on floor, on tread or on side, in single or double or multirow racks on tread or flat cannot exceed 5'-0" with exception. Each as reference in NFPA 13:12.1.10.1.1. Any racking or open use of commodities exceeding these heights cannot be permitted with separate review. This is a shell permit only and no occupancy is allowed under this permit. A separate tenant improvement permit will be required to finish this building for occupancy. This building is fully fire sprinklered. The sprinklers are used for area increase. All fire sprinkler system work shall comply with the IFC 2000, the attached review comments/conditions, as regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments/conditions, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code. Overhead hydro test failed. See approved plans for locations of puddles and for locations of missing retaining straps. Fire dept connection does meet the requirements of review note #1. Per plans central ty6137 upright were to be installed. But Gem F895 ECOH uprights have been installed. There are no sidewall heads in the head box to verify if correct. The riser room is required to be one hour rated. There are several holes in the wall and around piping penatrations that need taken care of. Provide verification of review note #68 for single truss supporting main. Need head wrenches and nfpa 25 for head box at final. Need certification of the backflow preventor, forward flush and fire alarm supervision at final. 12/9/2004 1:44:09 PM

Inspection was for stub-out only. Plans show 8" but 6" was installed. Per conversation with Bill Alexander 6" will be OK as long as this is supported with revised hydraulic calculations. Stub-out is OK to bury. 7/23/2004 12:24:58 PM
