(ST LUKES- 1E MICROBIOLOGY LAB) To relocate 11 existing recessed and add 7 pendant fire sprinklers within a 1,100-ft/2 area of existing medical process laboratory. Fire sprinkler work is associated with the upgrade use of a Microbiology Lab, by constructing new interior non-bearing partitions to create work stations and areas as necessary to meet tenant needs which shall comply with current adopted codes and ordinances. This fire protection work shall comply with the IFC 2000 and the permit review comments; each regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code. This permit is attached to BLD04-01070.

1. This area use is defined as a "Laboratory." Laboratories shall be protected per requirements of NFPA 13:13.8 which addresses NFPA 45, "Standard on Fire Protection for Laboratories Using Chemicals", of which, (1) Automatic sprinkler system protection for Class A and Class B laboratories shall be in accordance with ordinary hazard, Group 2 occupancies OR (2) Automatic sprinkler system protection for Class C and Class D laboratories shall be in accordance with ordinary hazard, Group 1 occupancies. [NFPA 45:4.2.1.1] Provide correct occupancy use definition of laboratory protecting and include corrected plans verifying the area is protected per minimum density/area requirements for that identified lab type. (IFC 105.4, 901.2)
