DUTON RESIDENCE * To construct install an NFPA 13D (modified) fire sprinkler system in a new 2,933-ft/2 one story single family dwelling with a 879-ft/2 attached three car garage single family dwelling. Modified relates to fire sprinkler protection along common walls and ceilings of occupied residential living space. Any and all NFPA 13D systems shall be equipped with an alarm initiating device, commonly referred to as a flow switch and an outside alarm indicating device. All fire sprinkler work including a duel service underground supply and related, including the fire sprinkler system backflow prevention device (to be provided by others), shall be per NFPA 13D, plans, documents, engineered/red-lined plans and attached review comments, under direction of the Fire Chief. The building contractor called to let me know that the sheet rockers had begun to install sheet rock on the ceiling and that he was letting them know that it was to be removed since no inspection had been done on the sprinkler piping. He let me know this in case I happen to show up before the sheet rock had been removed.

1. The ¾" Neptune water meter is not listed for calculation loss of 60+ gpm flow as established through the garage protection. Revise and resubmit. (IFC 105.4.2, 901.2)
2. Calculation sheets "Page 1" does not identify the friction loss/s addressing. Meter, Residential Domestic Shutoff and Backflow Preventer should all be addressed. Provide clarifications. (IFC 105.4.2, 901.2)
3. Provide current manufacturer fire sprinkler head data sheets (including all pages) with the correct head/s incorporating identified. (IFC 105.4.2, 901.2)
4. Riser is located in the garage and heads protecting the same are Dry Sidewall sprinklers? Clarify how the riser will be protected from freeze damage. (IFC 105.4.2, 901.2)
