To provide total coverage notification throughout the entire 3rd floor. As part of the fire alarm upgrade (10/25/2004), this floor is to be brought up to 2000IFC and 2002NFPA 72 requirements. The required manual fire alarm system includes sprinkler monitoring, HVAC shutdown, elevator recall/shutdown, high rise requirements and total coverage notification throughout.

The associated building permit (BLD 04-01253) is to remodel the 3rd floor (17,073 square feet) of an existing high-rise building for a whole floor tenant (15,900 net square feet). For exit separation reasons, a 2-hr fire barrier intended to function as a horizontal exit will be constructed to divide the floor into two egress areas.
