KERI / LYNN RESIDENCE * To install a life safety fire sprinkler system in a new 3000-ft/2, two story single family dwelling with a 1081-ft/2 attached three car garage. This lot is within a hillside area and is subject to the hillside ordinances. Class "A" roof system and 30 ft. defensible space shall be maintained. This structure shall be fitted with a modified 13D sprinkler system, including fire sprinkler barrier protection between garage and living spaces. This system shall be equipped with an alarm initiating device, commonly referred to as a flow switch, and connected to an audible outside alarm. The first floor is 2273-ft/2 and the 2nd floor is 727-ft/2. All fire sprinkler work and related, which includes dual use, single service water supply, the system backflow prevention device (provided by others), shall be per NFPA 13D, approved plans, engineering/red-lining and attached review comments, under direction of the Fire Chief. 1. Fire sprinkler riser closet is considered a "mechanical room" and shall be protected by fire sprinkler protection. Provide and show protection meeting requirements of NFPA 13D-8.6 and 17.5.
2. Backflow preventer identified on the plans is an "Ames" and the data submittal provided is a "Watts"? Clarify and provide correct/correlating information for calculation pressure loss verification. (IFC 104.9, 105.4.2, 901.2)
3. Hydraulic calculations verification for the Main Floor Area, 2 sprinkler heads testing are flawed. The Reliable Model "F3QR", Q.R., Dry HSW 5.6 K-factor (½"), R5734 is a ½" orifice sprinkler with an average 5.6 K-factor rating. Provide revised calc verification for this test and resubmit.
