Provided wrong area design. Also overhead system design does not meet minimum requirements for High Piled Combustible storage protection (Class IV and Group A Plastics). Fire sprinkler heads installed are not "listed" for High Piled Combustible Storage per Tyco Technical Support (Gordon) ###-####.

1. Plans/submittals are incomplete. This rack/mezzanine system would be considered storage that exceeds 12'-0" with a mix of metal and plastics below the walking deck, (determined to be a Class IV-reference IFC review comments BLD05-00086, dated 2/18/2005) and Group "A" plastics stored above. Since the commodities are separated in two levels, (shelving levels will not be considered) with a sprinklered level separating the mix, this reviewer will accept the distance from the sprinkler level of the first level to the top of storage of the second level, as the limit for allowable commodity height and related required protection for the second level fire protection needs. The lower level of sprinkler protection could be considered a floor level of protection and not in-rack sprinkler protection, thus spacing limits will not be required. The temperature rating will be adhered to inrack protection meeting requirements of 8.13.2.1. Provide the following information:
a. Provide a storage height of the Group "A" measured from the first level sprinkler deflector distance to the top of shelf storage on the second mezzanine level.
b. Provide overhead system design protection, information, corrections which match the identified commodity limits and storage system with original design or modified design meeting minimum protection requirements established in the IFC for High Hazard Commodities. NOTE: Factory Mutual does not allow "storage" use with the existing installed roof fire sprinklers. Has the designer verified the occupant's insurance underwriter! (BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2)
2. Mezzanine level sprinklers shall require a maximum Ordinary Temperature rating. Revise and resubmit. (NFPA 13-8.13.2.1)
3. Provide complete section details with dimensioning covering the entire racking system associated with the building section which includes the roof elevation, fire sprinkler elevation distances, etc. (BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2, IFC 2308.2)
4. Provide clarification of note pointing to main that reads, "2" Flex. Coup. @ Top @ Bottom of Pipe. Include a section detail addressing what the designer piping intent is with this supply main. (BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2).
