MICRON BUILDING #15 - DOCK CANOPY COVER - To install an wet, antifreeze loop fire sprinkler system under a new 20'x40' (8000-ft/2) steel framed canopy with metal roof, constructed over an existing concrete dock and attached to the northeast corner of Building #15. The system will be connected to an existing wet system located in Building #15. This fire protection work shall comply with the IFC 2003 and the permit review comments; each regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code. This permit is attached to BLD05-0593.

1. Plan submittals are incomplete. The use of antifreeze solutions shall be in conformity with state and local health regulations. Where sprinkler systems are supplied by potable water connections, the use of antifreeze solutions other than water solutions of pure glycerin (C.P. or U.S.P. 96.5 percent grade) or propylene glycol shall not be permitted.
a. Provide clarification on what kind of water supply system this system will be attached. Is it attached to a potable water supply source?
b. Provide the type of "antifreeze" installing.
c. Provide the capacity of system AND quantity antifreeze installing (in gpm) and freezing point (in ºF) proposed.

2. Plan submittals are incomplete. The designer does not clarify the required system antifreeze loop arrangement design and components installing.
a. Provide correct arrangement detail/s of the antifreeze loop installing, which includes, dimensioning, elevations, control valves, checks (backflow), expansion chambers, required fittings, signage, tamper supervision and any other relevant and required components relating to the type of antifreeze loop installing. If connected to a public water drinking systems then "Idaho Rules For Public Drinking Water - 58.01.08" and Department of Labor and Industrial Services installation requirements must apply and be addressed (shown) on the plans. (NFPA 13-7.5.1.1, 7.5.3, BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2, 106, 107.2.2, 901.6, 903.3.3)

3. Include data submittals of any relevant and required pertinent antifreeze system components and the listing of each. (NFPA 13-14.1.3[23, 41])

5. Plan submittals are incomplete. It appears the canopy slopes down from the building out, approximately 9". Include a section detail through the canopy that provides clarification of slope, structural beam locations and beam depths of which affect fire sprinkler location placements, coverage and etc. Include any light fixtures or other relevant building components that affect fire sprinkler spray characteristics. (NFPA 13-14.1.3[37], BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2)

6. Plan submittals are incomplete. This is an addition to an existing system.
a. Provide the system identification (other than it is wet).
b. Provide the maximum floor area this one sprinkler system riser or combined system riser is protecting. Maximum allowed is per NFPA 13-8.2.1.

7. Plan submittals are incomplete. Design would appear to meet minimum densities for the hazard class protecting but assumptions is not verification of meeting minimum code or acceptance of the responsibility for the same. Provide system hydraulic calculations meeting NFPA 14.4. (BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2)
