DetailsBill Alexander
1. The elevator shaft pits on the first floor is not located within a residential occupancy, but a "U-1" occupancy and shall be sprinklered per requirements of NFPA 13-8.14.5.1*. (BMC 7-01-50 -901.2)

2. Plans submitted are incomplete. Designer does not provide size of concealed spaces, attics, closets, and bathrooms or any small enclosures in which no sprinklers are to be installed. (NFPA 13R-6.1.7[9, 10])
Any assumption provided is not accepted. Revise and resubmit plans that meet requirements for verification of required fire protection. (BMC 7-01-50 -901.2)

3. Many restrooms which include showers and toilet spaces under this submittal will be considered part of the "restroom", since the designer does not address size or required separation on the plans. With lack of information, several restrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors will require added fire sprinkler protection. Bathroom: Within a dwelling unit, any room or compartment containing a lavatory dedicated to personal hygiene, or a water closet, or bathing capability such as a shower or tub, or any combination of facilities thereof. A room is still considered a bathroom if it contains just a toilet. Bathroom compartments can be considered separate rooms provided they are enclosed with the required level of construction. (NFPA 13R-3.3.1*, A-3.3.1)
Any assumption provided is not accepted. Revise and resubmit plans that meet requirements for verification of required fire protection. (BMC 7-01-50 -901.2)

4. Manufacturer's data submittals provided for the Reliable Model F-1 Res 49 CCP Pendant, Reliable Model F3QR Q.R. Dry Pendant, and Reliable Model F1FR Q.R. sprinklers are all obsolete. Provide current manufacturers data submittals for all sprinkler heads submitting. (NFPA 13-3.3.1*)

5. Are the stair enclosures headed since you are installing residential heads in the same on the second and 3rd floors? Address this issue on the plans. (BMC 7-01-50 -901.2)

6. Residential sprinklers are currently listed for use under flat, smooth, horizontal ceilings. Sloped, beamed, and pitched ceilings could require special design features such as larger flows or a design for five or more sprinklers to operate in the compartment.
a. Has the designer verified slope/pitch requirements since it appears these heads are being installed outside there listing on the 3rd floor?
b.
c. Has the design spacing being measured on along the slope and not the floor, which means the actual floor coverage area will be less than the listed area.
Provide plans that address fire protection installation code and listed requirements issues and please reference Reliable's bulletin "035C" for correct listed installation practices.
