To provide release of the security doors on the 4th floor of Peds by the fire To provide release of the security doors on the 4th floor of Peds by the fire alarm system. All fire alarm components are existing and the security doors will be given both NO and NC contacts to wire to, to provide a fail safe installation. No written comments. A sequence of operation is included in the fire alarm permit set. The PDS Fire Inspector shall field verify compliance of the fire alarm system release of the doors.

The associated building permit (BLD05-00989) is to install two new sets of double doors with card reader access / egress and fell-safe security hardware at door 4E001 to east tower pediatric unit for night security. Normal exiting from the North, Central & West wings on this floor will be by way of the central stair enclosure and other enclosures to the west. The East Tower & ETA have their own exit enclosures and in an emergency can use the central stair enclosure. Door hardware will be fell-safe in that they will become unlocked and unsecured in the event of an emergency, power loss or alarm activation. There will also be a remote release device at nurse station indicated on plans. There will be a remote videophone to assist family visits after hours at the secured door location.
