EMERALD TECH CENTER - BUILDING #11 (SHELL ONLY) - To install a complete overhead fire sprinkler system in a new 13,140-ft/2, one story concrete tilt-up exterior walls with steel roof system, 140-ft/2 mechanical room at the south side of the building. To building is to be protected for office and miscellaneous storage. This is a 20'-0" (to roof) shell building only. There is no occupancy allowed under this permit. Separate tenant improvement permits are required to finish this building for occupancy. The fire sprinkler system work shall comply with the IFC 2003, the attached review comments/conditions, as regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments/conditions, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code. The underground fire service supply was installed under FIR05-00338. This permit is attached to building permit: BLD05-00916.

1. Fire sprinkler systems installed in warehouse type buildings commonly referred to as "Spec" warehouses; where storage heights of combustible materials are possible over 12'-0" elevation, (Reference IFC Chapter 23), AND exact commodity, height of storage and storage system is unknown; shall be designed and installed according to the following criteria:
A. Minimum fire sprinkler system design shall be for a Class IV commodity, to the maximum available storage height, allowing for in-rack fire sprinklers, with "High Temperature Sprinklers" installed at the roof. It should be noted that if the warehouse is used to store a higher Class Commodity, upgrades to the sprinkler system shall be required.
B. It shall be the responsibility of the Fire Chief to evaluate all requests for a design meeting the requirements for a lower hazard storage configuration. Contact Mr. Dave Miller for approval/ acceptance at: ###-####.
The maximum clear height from floor to bottom of 2' deep trusses is approximately 15-16 feet. Provide revised plans and calculations addressing this minimum required system protection per BMC 7-01-56-903.1.6.
