To provide total area notification coverage in the remodeled areas per the building permit scope as indicated below. The riser for the strobe circuit indicates strobes only when there are speaker/strobes on the plans, the speaker riser, in the battery and voltage drop calculations (see red annotations on the submittal). The existing required manual fire alarm system includes sprinkler monitoring, HVAC shutdown, elevator recall/shutdown, fire/smoke damper control, door release and notification throughout (for high rise). The battery, voltage drop and speaker calculations appear to have sufficient capacity. No written comments, PDS Fire Inspector to field verify proper visual spacing and appropriate dB levels (possible problem in the server room 304). A resubmittal will be required if changes are necessary. An updated building map shall be provided at time of inspection.
There associated building permit BLD05-01435 is to create a 5,513 square foot office tenant space on the 3rd story (about 14,600 square feet total) of an existing high-rise building by expanding a tenant space into an adjacent area. The "core" has a floor area of about 2,670 square feet. The two "core" restrooms were upgraded to be accessible to the disabled under permit BLD03-02198. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, suspended ceilings, interior doors, interior windows, and finishes. The work shall comply with the approved drawings, the plan review report, and all applicable codes. Selective nonstructural demolition is also covered under this permit. The fire sprinkler system, fire alarm system, and high-rise life safety systems (and the infrastructure supporting these systems) for the 3rd story are regulated under the provisions of the 2000 IBC. If not already existing, fire-safing shall be installed at the perimeter of the 3rd story between the floor and the spandrel glass.
