Re-Submittals Of The Following Items Are Required:
1. This building is classified as an "M" occupancy. Anti-freeze system is under designed. Canopy cover protection beneath is incorporating Viking Model "M" S.R.* EC/ELO, SSP, 11.2 K-factor, VK608 which are not listed for Q.R. (light hazard) applications as provided (reference ULus listing). These sprinklers are also not listed for OH occupancy use protection of which this canopy cover protection will probably require OH-2, (depending on the commodity) protection. Provide a letter from the building owner which states that the area beneath the canopy structure will not be used for "Mercantile" use, displays and/or (sidewalk type) sales, etc. Signage will also be required to be posted at eye level along building wall every 20'-0" which states: "By order of the Fire Chief, this covered canopy shall have no combustible merchandise displayed or stored beneath for any reason, at anytime. IFC 102.8." Redesign or address the option and resubmit. (BMC 7-01-50 IFC 901.2, IFC 105.4.2)

2. Plans are incomplete. Include ACTUAL (operating) design area in the design plaques, on plan FP2 (both calcs) and not the minimum allowed. For extended coverage sprinklers, the minimum design area shall be that corresponding to the maximum density for the hazard in addressed in Figure 11.2.3.1.5 or the area protected by five sprinklers, whichever is greater. Provide clarification/verification that the designer is meeting this code, on the plans. (NFPA 13-11.2.3.2.2.4, BMC 7-01-50 IFC 901.2, IFC 105.4.2)

3. Required manufacturers data submittals are missing. Include data submittals for dry pendants installing. (BMC 7-01-50 IFC 901.2, IFC 105.4.2)

4. Hanger detail (side beam, and trapeze) are detailed incorrectly. Screws in the side of a timber or joist shall be not less than 2½" from the lower edge where supporting branch lines and not less than 3" where supporting main lines. (NFPA 13-9.1.5.6.1)

5. An exterior indicating control valve shall be provided for this facility. Unless specifically approved by the code official, the fire sprinkler system main control valve(s) shall be installed in any one of the following configurations:
(1.) A Post Indicator Valve (PIV). Where practical a PIV shall be installed at least 40 feet from the building.
(2.) A Wall Post Indicator Valve (WPIV).
(3.) A valve(s) installed on the riser itself provided the sprinkler riser room is separated from the building on all sides by a one-hour Occupancy Separation assembly, including opening and penetration protection, as defined by the Building Code. In addition to any other access doors, direct access into the riser room from the outside shall be provided. Signs identifying doors leading to the sprinkler system control assembly shall be permanently affixed to all doors so as to clearly identify the path to the riser assembly.
Note: The valve configurations required in this section are listed in order of preference, not in order of requirement. Provide corrected plans that detail addressing an approved option.
(BMC 7-01-53 IFC 903.1.3)

6. Backflow preventer does not include valves supervision. Provide valve supervision as required in IFC 903.4, installed per NFPA 72.

7. Define the antifreeze remote operating test area on the plan (FP2). (BMC 7-01-53 IFC 903.1.3)

8. Provide draining of the far cross main.
