Provide support for the two 2" vertical pipes and for the vertical drop to the FDC. The sidewall heads are over spaced from the center beams on both sides and the beam exceeds 8" which requires protection beneath. The above ground hydro test passed.

A temporary occupancy was given with Dave Hanneman's permission for the church to occupy the new addition so that work can be completed in the existing area.

Need to finish sprinkler expansion into the existing areas of the church. Per the structural inspector wall in two rooms will need to be extended to the deck. This may effect sprinkler coverage. I can find no record of a hydro test which will need to be done before the permit is finaled. Forward flush of the backflow preventor passed.

Sprinkler piping is ok to cover except in the areas where deficiencies have been noted on the city approve plans. Resubmittals of the hydraulic calcs for area #3 are needed since upright heads exceed the 120 maz spacing allowed.

4. Designer provided detailed information addressing a DRYVIT System incorporated on this facility. This information was forwarded to the Building Department for verification. This system is considered combustible and would be the same as applying untreated plywood surfacing except this is polystyrene insulation (foam plastic) board, with a minimal topping, and thus does not meeting requirements for non combustible construction. Provide fire protection as required under the code and resubmit.

6. a. Area design test #3 (Existing Chapel) is flawed since sidewall head spacing/coverage (16' x 18') appears to be exceeded. The maximum distance shall be measured along the slope of the ceiling (16' x 20'). Revised calculations will be required if this sloped distance exceeds 18'-0", of which the designer has not matched the design listing for the Reliable EC-9, Q.R.E.C. Sidewalls. IFC Fire Life Safety Inspector will verify, with accessibility provided by the contractor on inspection. (NFPA 13-8.5.3.1.2)
b. Area design #4 (Narthex) incorporated a maximum ceiling height designed for 14'-9"? Where quick-response sprinklers are used on a sloped ceiling, the maximum ceiling height shall be used for determining the percent reduction in design area. In this case, the design is faulted by approximately (NFPA 13-11.2.3.2.3.3)

7. Construction information is lacking. All wall penetrated must meet requirements of NFPA 13-9.3.4.2, 9.3.4.3, 9.3.4.4, or 9.3.4.5. Clarify all walls penetrating and provide (on the plans) correct engineering for the same. Read review comments #105 and address what you are doing with each pipe penetrating the non-frangible walls on the plans.

1. The location of the FDC is nearly 200 feet on the East side of this structure, which does not meet requirements of being on the street side of buildings. Obtain approval from the Fire Marshal (in writing) that location is acceptable. (IFC 903.3.7, BMC 7-01-61, 912.2.1.1, NFPA 13:5-15.2.3.5)

2. Submittals are incomplete. Provide a programmed calculation final head analysis sheet/s for:
a. Remote Are 1
b. Remote Are 2
c. Remote Are 3
It shall include the head reference node correlating with on the plan, head K-factor, elevation in feet, flow in gpm and operating pressure in psi minimum. No exceptions.

3. Existing Kitchen (identified on FP-4) is overspaced. Provide correction and resubmit. (NFPA 13-A.13.33.1)

4. Porch information provided is insufficient to allow unsprinklered. "EFIS" systems may not be considered noncombustible or limited combustible construction. They use Polyiso foam (polyurethane) board as a substrate for polymer type and coated stucco systems. Unless the requirements of 8.14.7.2 or 8.14.7.3 are met, sprinklers shall be installed under exterior roofs or canopies exceeding 4 ft in width. Revise and resubmit more information meeting the exception or provide fire sprinklers protection. (NFPA 13-8.14.7.1*)

5. Sprinkler head legend pendant symbols and SIN pendant symbols do not correlate/match, making this design provided very confusing. Revise and resubmit.

6. The E.C. pendant head spacing/design is unacceptable throughout, since there is absolutely no verification provided indicating that this system piped design will meet minimum protection area/densities. Provide verification of areas submitted which shall include "most demanding." This may be the "Narthex," which appears to have a slope exceeding 2/12 pitch (not addressed on FP-1 Section B-B)? Piping in the "classrooms" (area of the building) will need matching of the same design if not verified. Construction information shall be provided for all walls, doors, etc., in this area if requesting verification of incorporating a "Room Design Method."

7. Construction information is lacking. All wall penetrated must meet requirements of NFPA 13-9.3.4.2, 9.3.4.3, 9.3.4.4, or 9.3.4.5. Clarify all walls penetrating and provide (on the plans) correct engineering for the same.

8. If installing a 3" Wilkins 350G, then provide complete data submittals for the same. Data submittals provided are for 4" and larger. Verify calculation friction losses match the device installing.

Areas of Concern:
9. Plan FP-1 Note indicates the underground will continue into the "Mechanical Room" which is actually (exposed) in the new addition "Gym."

10. Remote Test Area #2 (Existing Chapel) Plan FP-2 sprinkler design spacing is limited to 288-ft/2 (16' x 18') per listings, and not 290-ft/2 as indicated on the calc cover sheet.

11. Seismic clamps shown on FP-3 attached to vertical (walls) is unacceptable since no bracing attached to any wall is addressed in NFPA 13-9.3. Any attachments to walls will require seismic engineering approval by a qualified and approved engineer.

12. Some of this facility sprinklering is an existing structure and the roof structure may not intentionally been designed for fire sprinkler piping filled with water. Fire sprinkler piping (mains specifically) are not identified to what kind of structural support connecting. No trapeze hangers identified and will need submitted and verified if installing. Sprinkler piping shall be substantially supported from the building structure, which must support the added load of the water filled pipe plus a minimum of 250 lbs applied at the point of hanger. (NFPA 13-9.2.1.3.1)
