Lacking proper coverage at one "closet " area on the first floor, tenting has been adjusted at one bedroom location, the remainder of overhead rough-in is good for cover, possible light fixture obstructions at certain locations depending on the fixture dimentions.

DetailsBill Alexander
1. Calculation/Design is flawed. Area #2 heads are designed for 12'-0" X 12'-0" with 13 gpm and required 9.6 psi which is insufficient. Reference the manufacturers head listing information, revise and resubmit for approval. (BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2)
January 24, 2006 - Redesign information not provided. Provide corrections as requested and resubmit.

2. Plan is incorrect/incomplete. Riser Detail, Key Notes and calculations do not correlate.
a. The riser is 1¼" with steel and CPVC. Also it is imperative that the designer read, know and understand all additional requirements for exposed CPVC risers which are clearly explained and in the manufacturers listed installation requirements for CPVC (not just a single head within 1'-0" of the riser). These requirements must be addressed (included) in your design and on the PLANS.
January 24, 2006 - Not addressed. One issue is that the maximum distance between the wall(s) and the outside surface of the riser pipe shall be 1-1/2". Your design/plan shows 1'-0"? This may be since the section detail is in a partition, and the view is facing the garage wall? That is why sections cuts should be provided with the cut line on the floor plan (basic Sprinkler 101), so code determination can be verified prior to installation and inspection.
b. Provide a domestic control connected UPSTREAM of the fire sprinkler take-off, which SHALL be been included in the calcs with no exceptions allowed. (NFPA 13D-A.6.2[a], A.6.3[a] BMC 7-01-50, IFC 901.2, IFC 105.4.2).
January 24, 2006 - Not provided.

3. Underground supply shown on the plan is incomplete since it does not address the pipe size, length and type from the street to the meter? Provide plans that are complete and correlate with calculation, which shall include, but may not be limited too:
b. *Elevation changes on any underground that lifts from the street to inside the home.
January 24, 2006 - Not addressed. (*It shall be assumed FLAT or DOWNHILL).
c. Plan shall include location and size of the main supply in the street.
January 24, 2006 - Not provided or readdressed as: "New 1½" polyethylene Pipe"?
d. Calculations shall then correlate with all of the above.
January 24, 2006 - Not provided due to item #1 above.

4. Plan is incomplete. Plans shall include included:
a. Bathroom dimensioning (ft/2).
January 24, 2006 - Not provided "Powder" room on the first floor?

f. Under stairs construction shall be addressed on the plans or sprinklers shall be required.

5. It would appear that the second level sits over a portion of the garage, yet designer's plans do not clearly indicate this as being so? No information provided as how the piping or heads in the garage are going to be maintained or kept at, or higher than the minimum 40ºF, which is required to prevent possible damage and maintain system operation per code. (BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2, 104.9, A.8.6.4)
January 24, 2006 - Plan detailed information is still lacking.
(BMC 7-01-50-901.2, IFC 105.4.2, NFPA 13D 4.1.2, 8.6.2)
January 24, 2006 - Not provided or addressed.

6. Alarm information provided is obsolete, not current and does not meet the Boise Municipal Code. Reference the BMC 7-01-57 IFC 903.3.1.3.1.
January 24, 2006 - Not addressed. Please Boise Municipal ordinance addresses the minimum requirement under Section 7-01-57 AMENDMENT ADDING SECTION 903.3.1.3.1 "NFPA 13D SPRINKLER ALARMS" Add a Section 903.3.1.3.1, which may be found at: http://www.cityofboise.org/city_clerk/citycode/0701.pdf
