Sam, I talked with Ron this am. They agreed to the 2nd proposal. He is going to talk to one of his suppliers who also sells retardant treatments. He is also going to talk to the owner to make sure the owner is agreeable to this solution and to the retreating the wood at the intervals recommended by the manufacturer of the product they end up using. I told Ron, FIRE would put a note in on our annual inspection file that our inspector who check on that at every inspection. Once he finds a product and talks with the owner he is going to get back with you so we can do a letter for the file that documents what we agreed to. Renn

Based on an onsite inspection of the covered entryway by Chief Ross, Chief Hanneman and myself, it was decided to give the contractor two options: 1. Install a flat ceiling within 6" above the sprinkler head (i.e. within the listed head spacing limits) and completely fill the concealed space with stable insulation batting (which will not compress over time and leave an air void); which makes the installed head location and orientation meet Code. OR,
2. If the owner agrees to accept the responsibility for ongoing maintenance, we would allow them to apply an approved fire retardant coating having approximately the same fire retardant characteristics as the existing stucco siding, to the exposed wood beams and roof deck within this entry porch/enclosures. The owner would then be responsible to apply repeat coatings at the intervals specified by the manufacturer.

See the city approved plans for locations where sprinklers need to be added and insulation reattached to the roof deck. The sidewall sprinklers at the main entrance are too far from the deck. As-builts need to resubmitted showing the added line in the dining/remote area.
