Description
This fire alarm permit is to install a new automatic and manual fire alarm system with sprinkler system monitoring in an existing residential care facility. The manual system is required per health and welfare.

Associated building permit: BLD08-00833 This project is for the placement of interior non bearing partitions to add three bedrooms to an existing single family dwelling. The family room will be divided to create 2-bedrooms (#2) & (#3) and the rear sitting room will have partitions to create a bedroom (# 7) and a small conference room that must be open to the hallway off of the dining room; adding 3-wall sections into the garage area to extend the garage hall and add a closet to bedroom # 6. Separate electrical and mechanical permits are required. This plan review is done under the Planning and Development Services Building Division Policy citing the IBC section 310.1 for R-4 occupancies affected March 20, 2008. R-1A zoning approved by Colleen Carroll. All per the approved plans as marked and the plan review notes. pep

Spoke with Sam, Troy, and Mountain Alarm regarding system smoke detectors versus standalone smoke alarms. Per Sam, it is okay to install system smoke detectors in place of the stand alone alarms in this building provided the locations meet the R4 requirements of NFPA 72. In addition, it is acceptable for all system smoke detectors (common areas as well as in-room) to signal the system alarm. The notes placed on the review comments regarding the single-station/multi-station alarms were an error on my part.
