Description	Modified FIR OH Work Scope: 10/28/08 The fire sprinkler scope consists of modifying the existing wet pipe system on the first and second floors by adding heads where required and changing out other non listed heads with the correct application. Plans and supporting calculations have been submitted. The existing riser will not be affected within this scope of work. Original FIR OH Work Scope: The fire sprinkler scope consists of modifying the existing wet pipe system by adding heads where required by code to meet spacing requirements. The fire sprinkler system alterations / work shall comply with the IFC 2006 & NFPA 13, the attached review comments/conditions, as regulated by the Fire Chief. The review comments/conditions, permit and fire "Inspection Card" are required to be on site as a condition of this work, to provide witness of compliance verification of minimum code. This permit is attached to BLD08-01775.

Telcon from Brett, ESI, requesting approval to pay B. Johnson to expedite the plan modifications plans they submitted today. I explained that in order to maintain equitable service to all customers, we do not allow contractors to pay our plan reviewers on the side, to expedite their plans. I also explained we have 2 plans which are 2 days beyond our standard 10-day review period, as well as 7 other plans in line, which we need to serve fairly. I indicated we would certainly review their plans as soon as possible, and if the work load allows, it will be done in less than the 2-week standard.

Telcon from Gerald Eberling, DeBest (###-####) requesting a meeting with the City to discuss possible re-design options which would not require hydraulic calculations. I declined, since our AHJ authority is only to approve plans for Code compliance, not to make design recommendation.. He indicated they now have plans of the existing system, but the owner did not want to pay DeBest to input the existing system data into their calc program and run the calculations. I suggested if they could show the modified area is upstream of the originally calc'd most remote area, and they are only adding additional gridded mains which would improve the hydraulic performance of the most remote area, it might be possible to only calc the modified area back to the riser, and avoid recalculating the entire system again. He indicated he would investigate possibility and call me back.
