This permit scope is to include manual pull stations, full area smoke detection, HVAC shutdown, sprinkler system monitoring, and full notification. Associated building permit: BLD08-01105 Whitney Elementary School - To construct a new one story, wood frame and masonry elementary school building and related site improvements. The building is separated into three buildings, for allowable area purposes, by two-hour fire walls. Building "A" is 12,650 square feet, contains classroom areas and is located on the northwest corner of the school. Building "B" is 4,805 square feet and contains the gymnasium, dental clinic, small office and storage areas. Building "B" is located on the south end of the school. Building "C" is 43,315 square feet and comprises the remainder of the building. Building "C" contains the cafeteria, kitchen, administration offices, library, multi-purpose community area and classrooms. Building "C" is at maximum allowable area and no future expansion is allowed to this portion of the school. This building also contains attic mechanical spaces. This school is fully fire sprinkled. Fire alarm testing for area "B" completed including correction notice items and notification throughout. Correction items from this inspection include two missing smoke detectors at the open junction boxes on the sloped ceiling in the cafeteria, provide notification for the modified floorplan at a classroom area "A" as noted, one SD at the corridor area A north end has not been relocated, switched addresses at two smoke detectors, sprinkler monitoring okayed.

Jason called regarding the addition of door holders and smoke detectors to trigger them. He wanted to know if he had to re-submit and get approved plans prior to doing the work. I let him know that since he already has an issued permit for that scope, that he did not have to get approved plans before doing the work, but he would have to resubmit a plan modification prior to calling for an inspection.
