The Fire Sprinkler Scope of work consists of removing pipe, fittings, hangers and sprinklers in a new telecommunications area. New piping will be installed to go around the telecommunications center and reconnect the grid. An automatic fire alarm system is required for this area.

(QWEST COMMUNICATIONS - 6TH STORY) This building is fire sprinklered for high-rise. To remodel the 6 story of the existing Qwest Communications building. Some nonstructural, nonbearing masonry walls will be removed. Work is to include creating a 1,677 square foot battery room, creating a 2,076 square foot telecommunication equipment room, and combining rooms to create a 897 square foot mechanical room. One-hr fire-resistance-rated fire barrier walls will be constructed. Spill containment for the battery room will be provided. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. Spaces used exclusively for telecommunications equipment, associated electrical power distribution equipment, and batteries are not required to be fire sprinklered provided those spaces are equipped throughout with an automatic fire alarm system and are separated from the remainder of the building by fire barriers consisting of not less than 1-hr fire-resistance-rated walls and 2-hr fire-resistance-rated floors (2006 IBC Section 903.2). **CJW**
