Me, Mark Sentenno and Tim Frost met with Jeff Pacham with Treasure Valley Fire and two representatives of Chevron, Lloyd and Steve and discussed outstanding issues from the last inspection. The tamper switches will be replace with devices that comply with NFPA 72, the pump and related electrical wiring needs to be above the water line (doors are ok for drainage). Tim is researching the required ventilation. The other items will be owner or fire sprinkler contractor supplied.

Provide corrosion protection for the exterior sprinkler piping, provide ventilation per the review comments and nfpa 20, provide a floor drain per the review comments and nfpa 20, remove the old sprinkler piping, verify the nozzles are not plugged, provide complete testing for the entire scope of work (such as fire pump cert.), provide correct tamper switches (automatic resetting).

Mark Senteno and I visit the site today in order to confirm the design of the existing fire protection system on this project. The existing foam system appears to be inadequate in my opinion. There are only 3 out of 4 bays protected. The 4th blending bay does not have fire protection and is not physically separated from the other 3 bays. After, a good deal of research I determined the existing system was installed in 1993. It is not clear if there were 4 bays or 3 bays planned. It is not clear if the system was ever reviewed or inspected. I could not find a case file for the fire protection. The underground feed main rises above the ground outside of the valve house. The pipe is insulated and has heat tape. However, the heat tape is disconnected. There is another new truck-off-loading canopy adjacent to this truck-loading canopy. It appears to be about 50' apart. The off loading canopy does not have fire protection. I was able to find out, that the previous fire marshall gave a compromise on having portable fire protection versus fixed protection. The FPE from 1993 Peter Mulivhill classified the loading canopy has H3. Based on my interpretation of the fire code and my previous experience; I have advise the Fire Marshall Mr. Mark Senteno that both the unsprinklered bay of the 1993 canopy and the off loading canopy should have a complete foam system. The underground piping needs to be moved inside the valve house as per NFPA.
