Description	This fire alarm permit is to provide a remote power supply (NAC panel) to accommodate notification devices being added due to a remodel. In addition, a pull station has been added to a new door. Associated building permit: BLD09-00946 (IDAHO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & WELFARE) (INTERIOR REMODEL) (NORTH BUILDING) Fire sprinklers used for building area increase and for code trade-offs. To remodel the interior of an existing 30,059 square foot building for the current tenant. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, interior doors, interior windows, a folding partition, millwork, and finishes. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. In conjunction with the tenant improvement work under this permit, the fire sprinkler system is required to be upgraded to comply with current standards, including quick-response sprinklers, in order to avoid enclosed 1-hr fire-resistance-rated corridors. Elements of the existing fire sprinkler system that already comply with current standards may remain without upgrade. CJW

Rob Ahten with Protex called regarding the required map indicating an updated/current plan showing the intiating devices. He wanted to know if he was required to provide it even if he did not modify any intiating devices. I let him know that, yes, it would be his responsibility and also pointed to the note on the review comments for this project that indicated as such. He stated confusion over other projects he said he has not had to do this on. I let him know that in years passed, we have only required an updated map if initiating devices were being modified in the scope of work. But, I let him know that in recent years, the fire department has had trouble with older buildings not having updated maps and that the response times have been hindered. They (the fire department) have requested that every fire alarm permit (regardless of initiating devices being affected or not) address the map being updated. I informed Rob that he should just count on, for every fire alarm permit, updating the map.

Sent an email to Protex letting them know they will need to submit a plan modification prior to calling for an inspection. The plan modification will need to include as-built information, implement previous redlines and review comments, show any/all door holders and their connections to the fire alarm panel, existing horns in areas where walls have been removed or added, and any documentation affected by the changes. This is not an all inclusive list.

The phase I area fire alarm testing is complete. The first visit I found missing a/v's and incorrect candella settings. At the second visit these items had been corrected. As-builts will be required prior to final sign off showing the a/v changes.
