Telephone call  3/15/2012 DONE
Spoke with Colton with Simplexgrinnell regarding the elevator light. I let him know that as long as they had documentation that the elevator was installed prior to 1990 that the existing elevator light could remain as-is. I also reminded him to have that documentation available at the time of inspection.
Miscellaneous action  3/15/2012 DONE
I received an email from Colton with a PDF attachment showing the installation paper work. The paperwork had a 1989 date on it, therefore does not require a fireman's hat-light. Based on this documentation, the light that is in the elevator is allowed to remain as long as it is functional. I emailed Colton back stating this was acceptable and to show it to the inspector during the final inspection.

The smoke/heat has been relocated and tested. Still need the firemans hat light addressed prior to a final sign off.

Functionality of the recall and shunt trip functions passed, however the combination smoke/heat device at the top of the elevator shaft was located closer than 3' from the supply/return register and further than 2' from the sprinkler head, therefore it needs to be relocated. Also there is no fireman's hat light in the elevator, however there is an indicator light that remains solid regardless of the detector actuated. I let Colton know that if they can provide something in writing from the elevator contractor stating that the light is incapable of being made to flash that it would be acceptable due to the age of the elevator.
Miscellaneous action  9/7/2011 DONE
Simplexgrinnell called and requested copies of the stamped/approved plans because they lost their original job-site copy. I let him know I would get the copies made and where he could pick them up at.

This was submitted as a quick permit, however it does not qualify for a quick permit. A full review will need to be done with review comments due to a new SLC circuit being added (panel was previously a conventional and they are upgrading (using a module) to allow for the new addressable devices.
Telephone call  1/22/2010 DONE
left a message for Charlie Bayne letting him know the plans are denied because it does not qualify for a quick permit. In the message I let him know he would need to resubmit with a regular fire alarm permit application and full drawings and submittals.
Miscellaneous action  1/22/2010 DONE
faxed permit application cover sheet to contractor with "plans denied - does not qualify for quick permit" written on it.
