I stopped at the job site and found that the "dog house" has been provided as well as heat. This temporary set up is acceptable as previously discussed.

I stopped today at Bishop Kelly High School to verify that the "dog house", with heat, had been installed over the sprinkler supply piping. It has not. The piping has been wrapped with concrete blankets which I remember was not an option. The openings along the existing wall are covered with plastic but no heat for the space has been provided.

Romeo Gervais and I met with Chad and Rich Raimondi, with Bishop Kelly, about the need for protection of both the fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems that are exposed to the elements. It was agreed that steps would be taken starting today and completed by the end of the week. Chad said he would follow up with me later in the week at which time I will perform a courtesy inspection.

I just spoke with the job superintendant at Bishop Kelly. No work has been done for protection of the supply piping that is exposed. The mason did not show up friday to infill the old doorways and no dog house with heat has been built. I discussed that this last weekends temperatures had been in the upper 30's and that they are currently non code compliant. Of the two superintendants here, one stated that by installing this "dog house" we would be conflicting with his framing. An email was sent to the fire dept requesting direction.

Spoke with the project architect, Richard Honsinger. I communicated to Richard the Fire Departments concern regarding the current condition and progress toward completion of the required building Fire Protection systems. I informed Richard that the Fire Protection systems serving all occupied portions of the existing building must be installed, inspected, and fully operational before continued occupancy of the building. At this time, no applications for Fire Protection permits, pertaining to the reconnecting of the related alarm components etc, has been submitted to the Planning and Development Services Department. A meeting has been scheduled for 8/11/11 onsite between the Fire Marshal, PDS/Fire manager, PDS/Fire field inspector, General contractor and Architect.

See the city approved plans for the portion of the 4" and 2 1/2" mains where the rough-in has passed. More new piping has been installed than what is shone on the plans . Per Mike this additional piping will be shown on the new submittals.
