Description
This fire alarm permit is to add two strobes, relocate an existing horn/strobe, add a pull station, two duct detectors (one for supply and one for return of RTU-1) and relays for unit shutdown. Devices are to be tied in to existing circuits of the existing fire alarm system.

Associated building permit: BLD11-00783 (ST. LUKES - MSTI) (1ST FLR PEDS & WAITING REMODEL) This building is fully sprinklered. Perform select demolition as indicated on plans. Scope of work includes installation of a new exterior exit door directly from the Reception / Waiting Lobby to the Children's outdoor courtyard; construct new partial height interior non-bearing walls with access / exit doors, to separate the existing 1st floor lobby into a reception/waiting area, the elevator lobby area and the vestibule entry area; installation of a glass wall on the second floor balcony, behind the existing guardrail to the bottom of existing bulkhead above and from top of bulkhead to fit the slope of existing vaulted steel frame glass roof, separating the 1st & 2nd floor from the lobby for improved environmental control. Construct interior NB wall with windows and door assembly to remodel the existing waiting room to become additional chemo treatment areas and a nutrition bar area. An existing 2-hour fire barrier wall, used as a 2-hour horizontal exit, located as indicated on the plans, shall be maintained. Install a new set of double doors across the west end of the corridor to create a Children Center Suite, providing two required exits from new suite while maintaining other required exits serving the 1st floor. Modify the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler and alarm systems for tenant needs and code compliance. NOTE: Separate applications, plans and permits are required for the fire sprinkler and the alarm modifications before any work on the system begins, as regulated by the fire department. drs

Provide for location and testing of EOL voltage drops. The new manual pull station located in the waiting room is located too far from the door and placed too low. See IFC 907.5.2. The duct smoke detectors tested ok.

Spoke to Charlie at Simplexgrinnell regarding questions about the location of the new pull station and why they are putting duct detectors on both the supply and return of the RTU. He said he would have to get back to me on Monday.
