This fire alarm permit is to replace the existing damaged fire alarm control panel with a new one (this is like-for-like). Because this is a like-for-like replacement, no upgrades to the system are required. Functionality of the existing devices and system reporting to the panel are to be verified. This building was constructed under the 1976 UBC/UFC. This building has a partial manual fire alarm system which was voluntarily installed. This fire alarm system consists of 3 pull boxes, two strobes, and one local alarm bell inside the assembly area. The extent and functionality of this system shall be maintained as originally installed. There is no off-site monitoring required for this system.
Associated building permit: BLD11-00397 (MARDI GRAS BALLROOM - NEW NORTHEAST ENTRANCE - STRUCTURAL AND SAFETY UPGRADES - CZC11-00023) This building is not fire sprinklered. To perform structural and safety upgrades in the Northeast corner of an existing 11,686 square foot assembly building. Work is to include a concrete footing to stabilize an existing footing and foundation, compacted fill, concrete slab on grade, wood stud parapets, wood beams, wood column and trimmers, re-built wood joist floor system, roof cricket, double leaf exterior door with sidelights, masonry infill wall, concrete infill foundation, a masonry shear wall, a new 2 riser interior stairway, exterior finishes, and interior finishes. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. Concrete, masonry, welding, soil compaction, and epoxy anchors all require Special Inspection. This permit does NOT establish a Certificate of Occupancy for this building. The Certificate of Occupancy will be established under permit BLD09-01470 after the work authorized under that permit and this permit is completed and approved. **CJW**
